Natalie Klco Music Portfolio-Bio

Natalie majored in Physics and Music through the Ohio University Honors Tutorial College where she studied percussion performance with Professor Roger Braun. Natalie has been the recipient of the John Philip Sousa award, MacDowell Club Music Scholarship, Matthew J. Fox Memorial Music Scholarship, and the Plain Local Music Patrons Association (PLIMPA) music scholarship. Natalie began marimba studies with Jack Elliot, a percussion instructor at Zampino’s Drum Shop in North Canton, Ohio where Natalie was later awarded student of the year in 2011. Interested in the educational process of the instrument, Natalie has recently taught marimba and percussion technique along with Mr. Elliott at Springfield High School. To improve community appreciation and awareness of the marimba, Natalie has given performances in a local nursing home and continues to perform at Faith United Methodist church in North Canton, Ohio. Natalie has attended the Eastman school of music summer percussion institute in 2011, the Leigh Howard Stevens summer marimba seminar in 2012 and is looking forward to the Nancy Zeltsman marimba festival in 2013. Natalie has performed at the 2012 Ohio Day of percussion (ODOP) master class with Gordon Stout and the 2013 ODOP soloist showcase judged by Michael Burritt, Gwen Burgett Thrasher, and Jim Culley. Natalie has performed in the orchestra for the Canton Comic Opera and was chosen as a winner of the 2013 Student Soloist Competition at Ohio University.
